Spring Cleaning
« on: March 29, 2023, 11:19:55 PM »

Decided to get out a few carbines today for some spring cleaning and this one is the first I grabbed .. definitely not the pick of the litter but one of the few I have left  :(

Inland barreled receiver with typical post war updates , these have really shot up over the years and definitely not a pleasure to shoot but was a great investment back in the day  thumb1

Nice M1A1! Those are definitely valuable. Do you have pictures of the special stamps etc. I don’t get to see many real ones and it’s always good to have pictures to study.

I took a shot at a heavily rearsenaled one a few weeks ago but wasn’t interested in going to $3K in order to win. That slot will remain open in my collection.

The stock and hand guard are both IO .. Overton

The crossed canon cartouche is so heavily worn it’s hard to photograph

Larry Ruth’s book gives great info on the stocks , lots of fake stuff on the market

Did the best I could with poor lighting and poor photography skills  :(

Typical post war rebuild with mostly Inland parts , crossed cannon cartouche is very faint and difficult to photograph ,

Stock & Handguard both IO

Pistol grip RI

Lots of dings and knicks but that’s the nature of the beast  thumb1

Hope these pics were of some help 👍

Thanks very much for the pictures! The markings on the buttplate are very clear. Often those markings in the casting are very shallow. An excellent and scarce find!
