Found a '03 at a local shop. It's a Rock island serial is in the 300k range so has the good receiver. It's been rearsenaled so it has the pistol grip stock. Stock is pretty oil soaked, almost blackened, but not beat on. Metal has nice finish remaining. I didn't get a good look at the bore but the barrel was replaced in 1943. What's the market for '03's? They seem a little high but I know little about these.

A shooter grade, in other words mixed parts but good condition, M1903 it's probably still in the 600-800 range. Personally I'd want to be at the low end of that range, even for a somewhat scarcer Rock Island version, especially given your description of the stock. This is just based on the description in assuming a good bore.

I recently got a Springfield that was built in 1918 & rebarreled in the early stages of WWII. Replacement stock, decent enough condition. I paid $400 for it & I wouldn't hesitate to do it again! thumb1

Every milsurp is ridiculously expensive these days it seems...

Well they wanted 899 and I thought it was way overpriced. It doesnt matter though, it sold yesterday. The M39 that I wanted was gone too. Oh well.

Don't sweat it. They are not rare, only expensive :)
Another one will turn up soon enough I'm sure.

For a refurb in a beat up stock, as you described. Yup, that's high. For a Rock Island that has it's original barrel, and in overall good condition, that's not at all out of line anymore. For all correct parts you're probably north of 1K
