Confirm what I have please?
« on: March 19, 2022, 06:24:29 PM »
You can probably tell from my last thread in this section I was getting some ammo. Got a bunch, most of which I know what it is. These 5 I kind of know what it is, but want to confirm, partly if it is corrosive or not.

M67 NNY over...oldest stamp is 1985, newest is 1992. Corrosive or non-corrosive?
M67 IK over...looks like 86 to me. Is this Igman? Corrosive or non-corrosive?
IMI over 7.62x39 thinking this is newer commercial Israeli ammo? Maybe Boxer primed? Primer looks a little different to me.
Thinking these last 2 are Chinese, but I have never seen the colors of these casings before. They look more like a Poly finish than a lacquered one;
Matte Green 61 over 81, Corrosive or non-corrosive? Lead or Steel core?
Matte Plum 71 over 89, Corrosive or non-corrosive? Lead or Steel core?

My Avatar is a pic of the real "Ghost" SKS in honor of xxxsks(joe). It is a pic of a fully decked out SKS in Capco hunter's kit. This was mine, the only other pic I had ever seen of one was Joe's.

Rule of thumb on Yugoslavian, if it has Cyrillic headstamp letters, it has corrosive primers, so your Prvi Partizan (ППУ), and Igman Konjic (ИК) are corrosive.

The IMI is modern Israeli, probably boxer primed and certainly non-corrosive.

The Chinese, Factory 61 from 1981, and Factory 71 from 1989 are corrosive. Probably mild steel core but could be lead core.

Thanks Jon, kind of what I figured, but wasn't sure.
