Hello from Mid Missouri
« on: December 17, 2017, 10:05:34 PM »
Just wanted to introduce myself and thank you for this great resource.  This is a rifle my Dad gave me several years ago.  It's an 8 million Chinese SKS with all matching numbers.  I just pulled it out of the closet this weekend and cleaned all the crap out of it.  It's time to get it out to the range!  My Dad paid $65.00 for it.  Wish I could get some more for that price!

Welcome!

Does the stock number match?  Get a blade bayo for it, she looks naked!

I still need a good 8m.    drool2

Yes, the stock number matches.  I need a bayonet.  I haven't looked real hard but the blade type seem to be harder to find than the spike.  Do you have a good place for me to find one?

Just check ebay, and make sure its not a Yugo 59/66 bayo because those are longer.

Welcome from WA!

Nice looking 8 mil! The blade bayonets aren't nearly as common, and hence cost more, but they do show up regularly on eBay.

Yes Sir ! She'll be all buttoned up nice and tight once you put that bayo on. : ) Not that hard to find a ChiCom Bayo either. That gun is nice enough that I would look for the original.  thumb1

Never been there.  I usually go to Rocky Forks, north of Columbia.  I'm thinking of joining a gun club.  Too many morons at the public ranges.

Very sexy 8m there Joe...love the stock.

Be aware when searching for a blade bayonet, if anyone selling states that it is an early type, straight eared collar, that won't work for you. Those would be Russian anyway...but are commonly listed without nationality. Yours uses an angled ear collar, which is far more common...but the Canadians are parting out Russians like mad, so the early ones are turning up more than usual.  If you find a pretty early one for a good price...get it...any spike bayonet handle will work, but will cost you a little more time and money...usually less than ten bucks.

Also, if searching eBay...aside from the 'hunting' section it usually will divert you to when searching for SKS anything...check both the Antiques and the Collectibles sections. They get less traffic and often you can find some deals there...along with some wingnuts with delusions of grandeur...but I have had some pretty good bayo luck in those sections. :)
