Title: Storage Question
Post by: Matchka on January 26, 2021, 03:54:52 PM
Just picked up a couple thou+ PPU ×39 soft tip. Eight boxes of 20, still packed in the heavy plastic bag. Original owner got it about three years ago. No idea when it was manufactured.

Q: Should I leave it packed in the plastic bag, or open and put the boxes in new GI ammo cans and toss in a couple of dessicant packs?

My opinion is that I would leave them packed as they are and put them in your ammo cans as is.

So, no worries about bag humidity?

So, no worries about bag humidity?

If it is stored in a climate controlled area, no.

Any good quality military ammo will last quit a while.  I have fired .30-06 AP that had been buried (without any protection) for 30+ years.
