Title: My North Vietnamese Star 1 Bring Back Rifle
Post by: Uncle Lar on September 14, 2020, 11:01:22 PM
It's a numbers matched rifle except for the magazine.
I shoot it quite a bit and these pics show it while it was disassembled for cleaning after a range session

Thank you Gents.
Unfortunately the guy who brought it back ended up suffering from Alzheimer's and both the papers and original magazine and original stock were lost.
His son looked for the papers and mag & stock but hadn't found them and then he moved and I can't get in touch with him.
It was in a Russian laminated stock when I got it but I'm contemplating putting it in a jungle stock as I think that would be more correct or appropriate than a laminated Ruskie stock.Any thoughts or comments on that idea?
I'm suffering from Agent orange and have started thinning out my SKS & Mosin-Nagant collection and today I gave Riatta Auctions 6 of my SKS's and two nice Mosin-Nagants (numbers matching and hand select in laminate stocks,a 1939 & a 1941) to put up for auction along with a VERY NICE 1954 non refurbed TULA SKS,a bunch of paratrooper spike bayonets still in cosmoline in the original Chinese plastic envelopes,a couple of decent blade bayonet jungles stocks with hand guards,a black Chinese(?) spike bayonet, more spike bayonets and a bunch of other parts including 5 or 6 decent Chinese spike and blade bayonet wooden stocks.
There are two nice paratrooper rifles in  going up for auction in the 6 rifles. Also in there is a KSport stock and a Tapco stock and some kind of polymer folding stock.
I'm giving my son a KSport paratrooper and I'm keeping my very nice M & D's and a 1 prefix serial number rifle and some spare parts & magazines for myself.Oh,and my unfired 59/66A1 that never had a finish put on the stock when it left the arsenal.
I just qualified for  Arizona disabled veteran hunting privileges and I'm gonna bag me a javalina when I'm eligible next season using the North Vietnamese rifle.
I hope I'm not violating any policies by mentioning the stuff that'll be going up for auction @ October 24th,Proxibid will also be listing that stuff. If this post violates policy please either let me know and I'll edit it to remove the stuff going on auction if that'd be permissible or please delete it.
I'll try to get some pics of the M,D,and the Star 1 rifle after some of my doctors appointments and hospital tests this week.
Meanwhile here's a couple of pics of the 1954 TULA,maybe the prettiest SKS I've ever seen

Wow, and the hits just keep coming!
That is absolutely gorgeous...both the condition and the grain on that stock.

My father in-law also is having Agent Orange issues....hope things are manageable, and thank you for your service!

Did the NV come in the Russian laminate stock? If it was a stateside replacement I’d say the Russian stock is less incorrect than the Chinese “jungle stock”. There’s no evidence that those were ever used in Vietnam. On the other hand, Russian SKSs did appear in Vietnam.

Thanks all.
Due to ongoing health concerns I've started thinning out my collection.
I've placed 6 of them including the really pretty 1954 Russian Tula pictured in this thread and two nice paratrooper rifles and also a good assortment of SKS parts and paratrooper bayonets  at Riatta Auctions (also called Reata Auctions) which uses Proxibid.
All of those listed along with two completely numbers matching Mosin Nagants complete with ammo pouches, oilers, bayonets and cleaning kits.
All of the stuff is from my personal collection and the SKS rifles are very low round count and so clean you could probably put a couple of dry patches through the bore and stick them in a bucket of water and sip water through them like a steel drinking straw.I am totally anal about cleaning my guns.
I hope they go to some good homes.

Thank you,too many ongoing issues with Agent Orange and yesterday I collapsed at my surgeons office.
They had to take me by ambulance to the ER.It seemed to have been triggered by the Vega nerve.
Funny(?) thing was the rest of the day until then I felt better than I had in months, I'd actually ridden one of my Harley's to the doctors office as he rides and he's a gun aficionado also.
In a week or two I'll be going in for more surgery as soon as they can schedule it.
Not really complaining though as I've had a good ride all in all.
