Other than the AK mag release it really isn't new up here. Just another company's take on the tactical mag release. Most do AR mag conversions so we can use pistol mags made for the xcr pistol. Pistol mags up here are limited to ten. So our stupid laws make us pin the original mag, but we can modify the receiver to accept 10 round pistol mags and that is fine.

Stupid eh

Laugh, we got plenty of these in the US too LC, maybe not made from freshly imported SKS-45s, but there's no shortage of them for certain :)

I'm surprised they aren't providing some type of thread protector or flash hider/muzzle brake on these.  The threaded barrel sticking out of the FSB just looks off.

Hey fencline, how short can a barrel be chopped in Canada before it becomes a no-no?  I know from reading CGN threads that 16.5" carbines are not allowed, but could someone take one down to 18" and be ok?

A barrel 18.5 inches and less on a semi auto center fired rifle is consider restricted. It would need to be registered and could only be transported to and from home and the range to shoot it.

Over 18.5 inches is non-restricted. Can shoot it on the farm, on Public wilderness (crown land) etc.

You can cut a barrel down to 18 inches. Of course that would be restricted and need to be registered. Longer than 18.5 is still non restricted. Any less than 18 inches is prohibited and will get you in trouble.

But if you manufacture a brand new barrel from a blank that is ok.  Just restricted or non restricted based on its length.

The difference between sawed off and brand new shorty.

As silly as your pistols not being allowed to have stocks without a tax stamp.

Manual actions are classified on the gun's overall length. My 12 inch barreled Rem 870 s a blast to shoot.

I am somewhat local to Ellwood Epps Sporting Goods, which looks like they have about 75 of these in stock on their website.  I will try to get up there sometime in the next week and have a look at one up close (disassembled, if possible) and report back on build quality.

I agree with others, if the iron sights are no longer usable chop the barrel. I would rather keep the barrel as is, lose the top rail and keep the irons or go with a scout mount that at least has a groove to use the irons in a rudimentary way in a pinch and I would much prefer an AK mag release.
It's sad that the motto of young Americans isn't "live free or die" or "I regret that I have but one life to give for my country" or even "ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country". Instead their motto is "pee yourself, shelter in place and cry for help". Pathetic.

I think I've made up for it.  XXXSKS has some pictures of some Made in China for Canada SKS-D photos now.  From the 2002 production.
