Russian SKS 45 Value
« on: July 31, 2022, 03:23:02 PM »
Ladies/Gents,

My Son bought me a Russian SKS 45 made by Tula in 1954. All numbers match, including the stock. The bluing is in very good condition. The stock is in very good shape. The finish on the left side has chips where it's down to the wood but the wood isn't damaged.

While I have no interest in selling it, but I would like to know its approximate value.

Your help will be most appreciated.

Gonna need photos to tell you with any degree of certainty.

Do you know how much your son paid for it?

Also, welcome to the  sksfiles!

Question for the OP, with a username like Mountie fan does that indicate you are in Canada by chance? If so prices are going to be totally different up there than here in the US. Regardless, welcome to the Files.
My Avatar is a pic of the real "Ghost" SKS in honor of xxxsks(joe). It is a pic of a fully decked out SKS in Capco hunter's kit. This was mine, the only other pic I had ever seen of one was Joe's.

Mountie, it is illegal for us to give you a price without photos. So we will need several photos so we don't end up in legal trouble.  :)

A warm welcome from 108F Washington State (east of the Cascade Mountains)!

Your 1954 Tula is worth roughly $550-1100 in today's market. Many pictures of the full gun, various serial numbers, top of the receiver cover and any markings on either side of the buttstock will help narrow down the range.

:o Looks like the Yakima Valley is growing raisins this year instead of wine grapes with THAT heat. :o

I do appreciate all of the responses.  I'll try to figure out how to post some pics.

I'm a born and raised West Virginian. I graduated from WVU. Our school mascot is a Mountaineer, thus MountieFan.

Don't know how much my Son paid for the rifle, as it was a gift.

When you click the reply button, or start a new thread, at the lower left you will see a link that says 'Upload image to post'. It takes you to an image hosting site where you can upload the files and go from there. Pretty easy compared to some forums.
