Tossing in four more for comparison. One is from the Survey.

All /416\'s man. S/N prefix overlap is quite conclusive in my opinion. Now find a pre 14 prefix with said stamp or a different shaped arsenal stamp and you'll peak my interest.  thumb1

Indeed. I looked back at this thread before putting up the pics. What gets me is that sellers continue to advertise /016\ as a factory. There doesn't seem to be any established geographic location or established provenance for a factory 016. Unless some conclusive evidence comes out, /416\ will predominate the discussion.

Per previous...
https://mobile.gunauction.com/displayitem.cfm?itemnum=15590102

/416\ with a broken nub of the 4. You can see a flaw below the 4 where that short vertical line should be. The shape of all the other geometric shapes are identical to the /416\, because it is a /416\

Why would the mythical factory /016\ design their stamp to be identical to /416\ save for one very subtle difference?

It would be interesting to get a range to see how long the stamp lasted before the nub broke off. :)

Yeah, I don't believe they would have two identical stamps for two dif locations minus a microscopic nub.

Well some just dont know better, some still adhere to old methods, some wont admit 016 is wrong and some just look at it and say 016 because thats what the general consensus says it is....

Contacted the seller, they insist and refuse to re-list as /416\. Oh well.  dash2
