Title: Sling identification
Post by: jstin2 on January 23, 2024, 05:49:14 PM
I bought a 1949 SKS and it came with this sling. Very different from what I usually see. Any info about it would be appreciated.

Possibly a variation of the Ppsh sling?

I agree with BB. I’ve never seen one quite like that but it looks most similar to the typical Soviet submachine gun slings with buckles on both ends.

I am adding the spring clip to show how it works.

I had a reply on the Gunboards - Mosin forum. Thanks to jjjxlr8 for his info.

It's a custom made sling that started life as a PPsh sling. The metal clip that was added is has some similarities to the Russian RPD sling clips, also used on RPGs, I guess.
