Nice  thumb1 PAX

LC had a .22 rimfire Jackalope challenge many many years ago when we first opened SKS-Files.  (https://sks-files.com/index.php?topic=55.msg404#msg404)

We could revive something like that, maybe even get some prizes together or something. thumb1

According to the database list it’s probably either a ‘50 or a ‘57. Is the gas block a straight 45 degree angle or is it the rounded curved type?

Hi larm, it's a '57 built carbine.  (S/N on the receiver has a И suffix which indicates 1957.)

I had to do a double take as the stock (УM5996) does not match the receiver or other metal parts (YB5986) though it is quite close.

Ah, I missed the suffix letter on the SN, good eye RM.

larm, early Russian trigger groups used a friction safety, but that was replaced, in late '50-early '51 IIRC, with the flat safety spring for the 'over-center' lock.

Well, larm. I'm late to the shoot out but it sounds fun. We had so much rain and un-appealling-to-be-on-the-range type weather, for soooo...long. But it's warming up and getting nice outside and I'm ready to be out there!

I'll try to get some rounds sent and post the results. I've been wanting to try out this new-to-me SKS-30 anyway. (China girl)   thumb1  It's time!
