My son's bubba...
« on: July 20, 2016, 05:31:34 AM »
As far as I can tell, it's built off a '94 imported commercial build. He took off a cheapo polymer sidefolder, that a prior owner put on it, and replaced it with a Promag Archangel.  He also added a Choate muzzle brake.

Looks good.   What stock is that?

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

Getting the handguard matching is certainly an improvement. Very nice.  thumb1

I'd cut that hump off behind the receiver if I ever got one of these. I've seen a few people do it. It looks better and makes take down easier.

He said it was an archangel (promag) stock in his post.

Is it 922r compliant now?

Everything he added is US made and according to the LGS owner, who is a NFA gunsmith, it was compliant.  He changed out US made furniture for US made furniture, so it should still be.

Good,

He should get a marcus g3 mag adapter and run tapco mags with the duck bill cut off with that new Texas ak style mag release. That and add tech sights 200 and cut the barrel down to 16.125" and add a prince 50 front sight and bam bad ass rifle!

He wants to put a Primary Arm 1-6x 7.62x39mm scope mated to the following on it:

https://smile.amazon.com/UTG-Receiver-Cover-Mount-Deflector/dp/B00JR61HKA/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1471058417&sr=8-4&keywords=sks+optics+mount

He also is thinking about adding one of those bipods that hooks to the bayonet lug.  As far as shortening the barrel that's not going to happen.  I was going to thread it for him so he could use an AK brake and he about blew a gasket.  He made it quite clear that he wanted the barrel left alone.

On a side note, I'm surprised no one noticed the gastube.  It has a single piece tube with a serial electropenned into the bottom of it.  The piston has the same number on it. The mystery is this; is it original to the rifle before it was possibly scrubbed, was it swapped out during a refurb before bubba got his hand's on it, or did bubba mess up the original and put this one on it as a replacement?
