I did a job for a fella, a few years back, who had 1 of these with a few rounds. It piqued my interest for sure. He wanted $400 I believe. Since then I've seen a few in shops but... Their always the 1's that have been rechambered for .308 ( not interested)

I see him every now and again and I think the deal still stands....I casually mention "that old french rifle in the funny caliber"  :)) Whenever I see him, just to see if he still has it.

How did I know this was going to get highjacked by the french nazi in a straight jacket?   rofl

Let me guess, yours is only 2.63m serial # off from the OPs gun and made just 15k miles down the road right?  Right?

Bah!!! bat1  Ok, bat1, all Mas 49/56s were produced at Manufacture d'armes de Saint-Étienne.  The OP's rifle was refurbed and possibly even rebarreled in 1982, the "G" series rifle is estimated to be built in 1958 to 1960.  One of mine is an H suffix, which is a series later, the other is a "G" series, which is 40950 lower than the OP's rifle.

Being the OP got the bayonet, sling and 5 magazines, and even the correctly marked grenade launching boot for 425 OTD, this man got a slamming package deal thumb1 Considering a bayonet will run between 50-75+ bucks, a magazine runs 35ish depending on condition.

I chewed outta the straight jacket earlier, just wearing my helmet now,  :P Mwhahahahaha,  rofl2  thumb1

Nice Marshall!  Looks like a good package and I really like the grain on that stock.  It's great that you got the grenade launcher and sight.  Seen a few pop up with those parts removed.

GM and Saigon: nice array of French small arms you have there. A couple of scoped examples even  :o The swept forward bolt handle on the MAS36 is a really unique feature.

I would love to have a original scope. Saigon1965, are the scopes pretty functionable? I would like to get some input on them before I fork out the cash.
