What the frack is Clenzoil? Never heard of it.

I just buy whatever WallyWorld has, which usually encompasses a huge selection- Safariland CLP or RemOil. I prefer the CLP, it cleans better. I also tend to think it doesn't make a smidgen of difference what you use, as long as the gun's stored properly, maintained regularly and not abused.

Hey Greasemonkey...what the heck is a "BOT"? Inquiring minds want to know!

Basically a web robot, like an e-mail finder/thief, and other types of nasty things, could also be like a browser bot, a search engine.  They can be both good and evil.

For cleaning the nastiest of crud I've found Kano Kroil penetrating oil to clean better than anything. It stinks to high heaven but is better than anything I've ever tried.

As far as rust preventatives go I use eezox now. Rem oil sucks! Eezox works better than CLP and rem oil at rust prevention.

As far as slicking up actions go I use rig grease. Man does it slick em up and last.

I bought a small bottle of hoppes oil with weather guard because I got it cheaply. I might try it out.

Gonna necro post this one.
I was mulling some things over in regards to cleaning, and got to thinking about stuff that been used in the past and found this thread.
There's some good info, as well as humor, to be found here.
What got me thinking was remembering Dad using some 3in1 oil on his 30-30 and the old Sears Ted Williams 22 we had.
Those 2, plus an old Mossberg bolt action shotgun, and a "sporterized" Enfield 303 put a lot of meat on the table when I was very young.

If I need to use oil, it's the RemOil. It's easy and not too expensive. Spray it on a rag and wipe it down.

For cleaning out receivers, trigger assemblies, etc., I've always used the CLP and my trusty airhose. I don't have any issues with water in my pressure tank, and I wipe it all down with a RemOil'd rag afterwards, anyway.

If I need to store the firearm for a bit, I use the RIG Gun Grease. That stuff works. Does what it's supposed to do.

There may be better stuff and better ways. It's just what has always worked well for me.

Lately, I've been using Hoppes or RemOil because I have it here.
In the past, I've used motor oil in an empty eye drops bottle, transmission fluid, CLP, 3 in 1, machine oil, air tool oil, some WWII vintage lube, white lithium grease, and just about anything else handy.
One time while we were out in the desert, a buddy brought a brand new AR he's just finished putting together. He'd neglected to lube it and it was choking. I had nothing in my range bag, so I pulled the dipstick out of the Jeep and took care of the problem.
By the way, that was the last time I had nothing in the range bag.

If I have a preference, it's either CLP or RemOil. Mostly because of the small size of the container.

I would like to try the Lucas stuff, but I can't find it locally. Lucas has a great reputation in the lube business, and I think it's worth a shot, so to speak.

I have used Rem oil and gunny rag lube.  Cant find anyone who sells gunny rag lube anymore but I think it was a mix of transmission oil/fluid and other properties.  It worked great as a lube and preventing rust to the metal parts!

CLP, the black aerosol can stuff. I like the foaming action of it, helps to get to some harder to reach areas more evenly IMO.
Had a gallon of the army issue CLP for a while, the stuff they dip full sized paint brushes in and slap inside the feed tray of a .50 or 240 on range days, but its down to a waterbottle amount. It does it's job or atleast good enough for government work.  :))

Yeah, the newer foaming bore cleaners work much quicker and save you a lot of elbow grease from having to keep scrubbing the fouling out of a barrel, bolt and chamber. The rest of the gun I just use mild isopropyl alcohol to clean and degrease as it will not harm or stain fancy finishes and is safe to touch and no harmful vapors like the trichlorethylene stuff is.

It sounds like you're referring to the metal, so agreed. Just keep polar solvents like isopropanol, denatured "alcohol" (ethanol), acetone, etc. away from shellac coated stocks, they will dissolve or craze the finish.

Agreed that the trichloroethylene, perchloroethylene (aka, tetrachloroethylene) and other chlorinated solvents are good to avoid, especially in poorly ventilated areas (inside a house or garage), and without appropriate gloves.
