Hi Fllas,

Finally got these 2 little pups out of Kali jail. I've had 6 delays on my last 6 DROS apps and with the 1 in 30 bs along with my summer gig, it put me way behind. Just repainted both stocks FDE and did a little touch up on the metal bite. The upper is a Squires-Bingham (original manufacturer), the lower is an RIA (Armscorp) both discontinued. The stock profile is slightly different amongst other things, and the Squires has a shell deflector. The Squires muzzle device and the RIA aren't the same, and the Squires was painted shiny black all over while the RIA looks parked or flat. They both look much better with a contrasting stock. In the grand scheme of .22 collecting these are relatively hard to come by and the mags are hen's teeth hard to locate. There are 15's and 50 round drums out there somewhere. These both are 10's. They're pretty cool and very quiet. PAX

Those are really interesting .22lr rifles with the M16 looks  8)  thumb1 I’ve never run into one out in the wild.

I remember them from back in the day and almost bought one, but all the ones I have ever seen were with black poly stocks.

I also heard they were not that accurate which is why I never bought one.

This is what they looked like originally, the furniture is Philippine mahogany. I haven't shot them yet but the scoop I got (You tube vids), was they were very quiet and accurate. The function is very similar to an AR7 action. I bumped into them within days of each other. One the seller drove 75 miles and sold it for a C note (with extra mag), so I got to see what they looked like, the other I traded straight across to a fella in OR for a Glenfield M75 10 tube (looks M1 carbineish). In the world of .22 collecting they're cheap and unique but scarce. PAX

I been around guns all my life but WTH are those? Never seen one. To be honest these remind me of those crossman M-16 bb gun rifles. I had one of those. Looks just like one. Weird but cool. lol

I remember seeing an ad for them once back in the day. Until the one fella showed up at my FFL for transfer, I'd never seen one in the wild, then within in a week I had 2  ::) PAX

Rock Island Armory switched production completely to the Philippines by parent company Armscor, who also make Tanfoglio firearms. The M1600, a basic semi-auto .22lr rifle disguised to look like an AR, was introduced around 20-25 years ago and IIRC didn't do very well as it was around the same time .22lr uppers and the CMMG kits for regular ARs started coming out. PAX may know more, but again IIRC they also made one that looked like an M-1 carbine.

I really didn't know squat about the Squires Bingham until I stumbled across 2 ads, one for sale on Calguns, the other for trade on NWFA, within days of each other. I see they produced a folder M1600 action after RIA acquired them and was shortly discontinued and replace by another model, TM22, with different mechanicals and a modern AR look, I think made in Turkey. More conventional mag amongst other things. I didn't know about the Tanfoglio Armscor connection. I have a Tanfoglio 9mm FAB 92 in Wonder Finish (nickel). It's heavy, would make a good pistol-whipping pistol  :)) PAX

Yeah, it was Squires Bingham until 1980 when they changed to Armscor, then they opened a US office in Pahrump, NV around 1985 and acquired RIA about that time as well.

I believe I mis-spoke on the Tanfoglio thing. Back around 2006 or so, when working in a gun shop, I remember we were looking at the Armscor web-site because a customer didn't believe RIA was made in the Philippines. At that time I recall the site showed the Tanfoglio line of pistols which included models we couldn't get here in the US. We, my boss and I, always assumed they were making the Tanfoglio line as well. I got curious from this thread so I looked it up and am not finding anything about Tanfoglio except they are still Italian made and owned. Maybe they were producing some for Tanfoglio for the Asia market of maybe just a distributor for the Asia market for them???? don't know, anyway, wanted to correct me former statement on that.
