Greetings from MI
« on: September 01, 2023, 06:13:16 PM »
New member here form SE Michigan. While new to the forum, not new to SKSs. Over the couple hundred guns I've owned in my life, had a Norinco back in early 2000. And a few Yugo AKs (Opap / Pap)  since then, but today I got my first Yugo, a 59/66 made in 1977. Done a ton of reading on these prior, but interested to see what I can still learn from others on here

Welcome from Kali, PAX

Welcome to the files from MO
My Avatar is a pic of the real "Ghost" SKS in honor of xxxsks(joe). It is a pic of a fully decked out SKS in Capco hunter's kit. This was mine, the only other pic I had ever seen of one was Joe's.

Greetings from New Mexico.

Looks like you got yourself a well used warhorse there.  Remind me of my first yugo (Ugly Betty, not a single matching number throughout it, but it shot quite well!) thumb1

I see some trench art on the right buttstock. Maybe A.S 2765?92.  It’s always fun tracking down the trench art to see what it might be saying.

Receiver looks like it had a scope bolted onto it.  Do you have the mount that fits that pattern?  Looking forward to seeing more of this one, I like carbines like this as they often tell quite the story.

Surprisingly the dust cover is the only non-matching piece. As for the trench art, I'm gonna try and take some better pictures tomorrow in hopes I can read it better

Here's a closeup of the buttstock. Yeah, definitely A.S and 276##92. Looks like someone had fun carving out the middle numbers. In any case, makes for a fascinating conversation piece

Also found the import mark

C.A.I. GEORGIA VT      MDL 59/66 7.62x39 YUGO

Based on what I read in here that is the CAI #1 import mark, should put it before 2002
