Ferule appears to have been made for a blade bayonet. Not definitive, but it's pretty good indication IMO that original bayonet for this rifle was a blade.

if only there was a way to x ray under the stock ferrule to see if the barrel was notched for a top pin for a spike ferrule originally.  I doubt either of us will knock it off to see.

I am very glad to see the pinned magazine....mine is as good as it's gonna get, and I have one less unicorn to hunt.

If you happen to have a micrometer, the length and diameter of the latch pin's pin would be a great piece of data for a guy like me. I keep hoping mine will just fall out of the trigger group or the recoil spring....so far, no dice. :P

It is possible to x-ray the barrel through a industrial radiologist but it is cost prohibitive or out of reach for most folks.
