GB listings for November, 2015 - Yugoslavian
« on: December 02, 2015, 10:37:44 PM »
A slightly down month with only 30 Yugos this time around.  2015 is certainly the year of the Yugo though!  $255.00 low, $880.00 high, $413.45 avg.

Please feel free to post up any feedback (good or bad) to any one these entries.

If you have an objection or observation to add to anything I've listed, by all means call it out.  Let's all look at it long and hard (I only look at each listing for a minute or two at most, I miss things all the time and as I continually try to remind people: we simply don't have all the answers, no matter how good we'd like to think we are) and maybe everyone can learn a thing or two!  thumb1

Wow, were they really only $680?  Man I might *really* get to regret not buying one if the price I keep thinking they were keeps going up and the price they really were stays the same!  chuckles1

Some of them made $200 in a month, others struggled to break even.  I think the market hasn't had a good chance to really determine a price on these. Give it a year and the real trend will be evident.

Im sure...   Leading up to xmas is a bad time to determine a baseline on any given rifles value.

This one http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=523110906

With an "A" suffix I have to think it's an Interordnance import possibly connected to those rifles that get referred to as the Wild Ones sometimes. For those who might not have heard the story, it's said that I/O tried to get away with importing a batch of Yugo SKS that were of new manufacture and bearing their own unique serial block suffixed with "A." There were supposed to have been about 500 rifles in the batch with about half sold before the relevant government agency came in and stopped further sales, later ordering that the remainder be cut up/parted out, but declining to track down the ones already sold. They weren't mil-surp so didn't qualify as C & R.

So those got dubbed The Wild Ones the bulk of which have serial #'s in a block from 100xxA - 105xxA, and there's a few odd ones with 6 digit #'s suffixed with "A". This is likely one of those oddballs. I used to be pretty keen on these, not seeing until it was pointed out to me that they're actually a little rough with tooling marks and unfinished stock fitting that are really not typical of Zastava workmanship. Like they were a hurry up job. I have tried several times to verify the story incuding e-mailing Oli (?) Weigand (?) head of I/O, never could verify it although I did discover they were apparently getting a great deal of attention from the government around that time for a host of reasons, and somebody had to do a stretch in jail. I think this all happened around 2001 but not sure.

I'd like to have a chance to look a few of them over sometime, I once saw a chamber pic of one and it really looked like the extractor recess was cut with a Dremel after the barrel was seated, and another with an arsenal stock repair of an otherwise new stock. I noticed this one has the serial EP'd right next to where it's also stamped, I haven't seen that before and don't know what to make of it. I think the buyer did ok, they may be a little goofy but 300$ isn't a lot of money.

Edit - "a little goofy" - it was the rifles I was speaking of not the buyer  :))

Hey Danny,

I think you're right about this one being an IO import:

What do you make of the mismatched trigger group on that gun?  Think that was installed before import, or was it done here stateside? (I can't think of a reason why someone would do that unless it got worked on and was silky smooth)  That 267805 would equate to an H prefix; the receiver # 247547 would be an H prefix as well.    Interesting.  think1

I'd bet it was imported with that trigger guard. The batch of rifles taken as a whole seem like they show signs that they were done as a hurry-up deal. I wouldn't exclude the possibility that they were drawing from used parts bins in building some of them.

In Withergyld's compiled data, right after the I/O's with the unique serial set, he shows a couple of these "loose" ones with 6 digit military numbers and I think he placed those where he did because they were suffixed with an "A". Besides those there is an "N" and an "E" that are I/O and only serial stamped on the receiver and stock, with the rest un-numbered, like the later ones. It really has the smack to it that they were rushing through new builds and had to complete the order with heavily refurbed rifles that apparently had new stocks along with whatever else. It sure doesn't seem much like Zastavas usual way of doing things.

518789253   YUGO M59/66 SKS UNFIRED IN BOX M59 66 MATCHING   12   $355.00    M59/66   F   Force-Matched   Good   Nice looking Cherry's gun here.

Is the font on the stock's SN wrong or am I missing something obvious? The SN matches the rest of the rifle, but it's listed as force matched. I'm not up to date on the Yugo specifics. Any opinions on this?

Hi FC!

The only reason I listed it as force matched was because of the restamp on the stock.  You can just make out a previous number under the 155767 in photo 10 of the auction. It's not super clear, but I *think* I see a 3 and a 0 underneath.

Add that to the final photo of the box with the 'All matching except stock' and I thought it best to pull that one down a notch.

I'm certainly open to any alternatives though. Yugos are certainly not my strongpoint!   thumb1

I think I see what you're talking about in pic #10. A bit of a gap between the 7 and the 6 too. The one pic is hard to judge by, but I suppose they wouldn't sabotage their own rifle by putting that on the box if it wasn't so. Good call RM.
