1949 SKS - PM 1527
« on: February 24, 2024, 05:09:42 PM »
Here is an early build 1949. From the frankenpinned magazine, it was probably a Westrifle sell. It has parallel cleaning rod nubs and no rivet on the magazine. It is NOT a SKS sniper. Previous owner had the Accumount scope mount installed on the rifle. In the ad it showed the rifle without the scope mount. The mount is for a 1 inch tube and it did not come with the scope. One thing that I noticed is that the cover serial number has a sans-serif #1 where all the other serial numbers are serif. One other thing, is that the serial number is 2 lined. Here are a couple of pictures of the rifle then the album.

Great batch of iron. The mount job was done nicely, PAX

Very nice.  thumb1

I agree with PAX, the scope was mounted well.  The serialization is an interesting touch.  Not quite sure why one would go through all that effort for a simple scope mount, gets my heebie jeebie meter cranked up though.

I found out through a member on Gunboards, that it was built by Accumount and they offered at one time to add the serial number to match the rifle. Simple explanation to the matching serial numbers. It had me puzzled before I found about the manufacturer and serial number addition since the scope mount was for a 1 inch tube.

Just thought that I would let you know that the collection picture is outdated. I was able to purchase another 1949 last week and it is being shipped as I write. Here is a preview of what is coming. Pictures were in the ad, better pictures when it comes.
