My Certificate of Authenticity from Keng's Firearms Specialty Inc has just arrived regarding my 016/416 Arsenal stamped, PS stamped Type 56 SKS.
It says...
"This certificate acknowledges that the Poly Technologies, Inc. SKS with Serial Number 180383## was manufactured by State Arsenal 416 in Jing-AN, China. It was imported by Keng's Firearms Specialty, Inc. on October 13, 1987 and was sold on December 29, 1987."
So there it is.
And here is the close up of the Arsenal stamp...
Really nice,
fenceline! I've been debating whether or not to buy one of the certificates from Keng's. I think I'll get one for mine, too. I just wasn't sure it would apply to the SKS and not just the Polytech AK's.
Nice! Anything else on the rest of the whole gun? No 'China' or 7.62 anywhere?!
Nope. Nothing except the Public Security markings on the right side.
It is one of my favorite Chinese SKS, just for the quality of the wood stock. The gun is all matching, including the stock.
I looked at mine after reading your post and it's marked just like yours. But after further inspection, if you look just forward of your Gas Block, on the under side of the barrel, it should have a nice stamp that reads:
SKS 7.62 CHINA. Very small, discreet stamp, like the Albanian TGI stamps,
forward of the Gas Block.
RM, if you need pics of that, let me know.
