My USAF M16 604 Clone
« on: October 17, 2023, 09:16:46 PM »
Aquired an AR15 in the A2 configuration back in 2017, and not long after got into the "My service weapons" kick. So one day, back in Jun 2021, I'm on GB and come across a slick side upper and got it. CINC Household said now you don't have an excuse not to build your M16 604 clone. After a couple months and $946.75 spent, I had all the needed parts.

Type D buttstock, A1 pistol grip, small pad ejection port cover, 3 prong flash hider, triangular handguards, pencil barrel, etc. Before I knew it, I had my M16 604 clone done. So now I have the M16 604, and M16A2 645 clones, and a S&W K38 (Got the target hammer and trigger for it), just need to find a Beretta M9 Commercial and I'll have satisfied my Service Weapons itch.

At some point, I'll find lower receivers with the proper markings and swap out the PSA lower on the 604 clone and the Bushmaster lower on the 645 clone. But for now they'll do.

That looks slick! Building out an early style AR is a huge goal of mine.

Thank you, I had wanted to do it for a while and when the upper fell into my lap, I had no excuses not to see it through.

With the prices of Colts and pre-built retro clones that are/were out there, it was actually cheaper to build my own. But that is not always the case, so I consider myself lucky on my build.

That's a nice looking example.......

I'm still occasionally looking for proper clone lowers. One day I'll get off my duff, pull the trigger, and get them done.

Thank you, it was fun doing the 604 build. It was/is my one and only build I've done.

Still looking for a gunsmith to change out the hammer and trigger on the S&W. If it can be screwed up, I'll screw it up, if it can't I'll invent a way to screw it up. Or at least that is what my dad use to say about me.

Just haunting the local gunshops for a Beretta M9 Commercial to finish my service weapons itch. While still hunting for my next milsurp to add to the hoard.
