Cold Blue
« on: March 06, 2023, 11:44:06 AM »

Recently stumbled into some old parts cheap , kinda rough shape but the price was right.
Had an old bottle of cold blue out in the shop and decided to give it a shot , after a little prep work - the results turned out okay  :)

How was the results compared to your expectations?

Look pretty good in the pics. Most of how they turn out is in the prep work, then how even you get the application.
My Avatar is a pic of the real "Ghost" SKS in honor of xxxsks(joe). It is a pic of a fully decked out SKS in Capco hunter's kit. This was mine, the only other pic I had ever seen of one was Joe's.

You are absolutely correct , I cleaned everything good with mineral spirits and then lightly buffed with 0000 steel wool , after every coat I buffed again and cleaned it with denatured alcohol , took several applications but the final results were decent , prep work is everything - Iíve seen some look horrible because it wasnít prepped right.

I use the same one. Have for years. "Proper prep" is the key to making it look good. You may need to put "several" layers on.
