Title: 10 mil(s)
Post by: Bob_The_Student on May 24, 2020, 08:40:46 AM
I found a couple 10 million /26\ rifles. Minus the mags  >:(. No original stocks either. One is B-West (Z and D after serial) and one is P.T.K. (A after serial). The P.T.K. matches including the tube, piston and rear sight.

Wondering what is correct stock for these. Is it a bottom swivel with spike bayonet?

Not sure if this is legit, but I did find this from here:

Looks to me like the bolt carrier was slamming against the dust cover due to:
a) weak recoil spring
b) hot loads
or
c) recoil spring installed backwards

I'm going with "C" since people do that so often.

Recoil buffers are band aid fix for weak or improper recoil spring rate.

SKSGuide and SKS-Files are essentially one and the same.  We own both domains and try to keep them both updated with the latest and greatest. :P

Year 10 /26\ did indeed have a side to bottom transition somewhere in there. Next time I’m at my desktop I’ll pull the S/N range and see where the transition happened.   thumb1

Mine is pert dern in the middle of your two....side swivel, OIL finish stock.   Mine's a KSI, but that probably doesn't matter.
Transition years are a pain to try to restore. 10m is a neat year for that kinda conundrum....

I don't think I have come across ANY side swivel stocks that were unserialed replacements. I have been lurking in a low priority fashion for one for years...and I don't even think I have seen one that was too spendy that kept me away, I just don't believe I have seen one at all.

Best of luck!

Ghost, you were correct it was one of the buffer pads..."buffertech" was name on it. It no longer resides in this rifle. IMO there is NOTHING wrong with recoil spring. Action snaps closed when manually cycling ti. Of course I have not fired it, however.
