I think I will keep it in cosmo for now. If I sell or trade my other one I'll clean this up.

Sounds like a great plan.. I did the same with mine.   thumb1

To me, its like a stamp collector using a stamp from the collection to mail a letter, or buying cheap toy from a machine using a pre 65 quarter.  Im not going to do it unless necessary.    fart1

Ha ha ha ha ha ha Your killing me  :))

Any idea why these came with ropes?

The rumor is that the Yugo army didn't allow the soldiers to use the cleaning rods as cleaning rods  They were only used to oil the bore.  The hard scrubbing of the bore was done with the pull thru style cleaning ropes.  No idea if there's any truth to it, but it's plausible.

Makes sense that they didn't use some special bore snake (which I had always assumed) and just used rope/twine.

Until I have shot out my other (insert embarrassingly high number here) shooter SKSs or until the market becomes flooded with near-perfect $99 M59s from Cuba, this one is a safe queen.

I bought several in the past thinking my brothers and cousins would love to shoot them with me.  Some people think 556/223 is the only proper caliber and that lasers and lights make a weapon.  Oh, well....  More for me!

Very nice M59 Bears! The oiler, pouch, and ammo pouches were brand new with mine.  It also came with an old "bore snake" and an old canvas sling.

When the Cambrian measures were forming, They promised perpetual peace.
They swore, if we gave them our weapons, that the wars of the tribes would cease.
But when we disarmed They sold us and delivered us bound to our foe,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: "Stick to the Devil you know."

Thanks guys. That's funny John, my oiler, pouches, and sling were well used but the rope was new.

I ended up cleaning mine. I couldn't stand it any more. The bolt and carrier show little to no wear and the bore looks excellent. Looks like I'll be keeping this one and selling or trading my Samco import eventually.

That has to be bore shot of the year. Great pic and bore as well, it looks like it was cut last week.  clap1 clap1 clap1

I'm happy to have my own frosty M59 for a shooter but man oh man would I love to be able to set one of these back in cosmo.

Thanks! the hardest part was making sure it was level and then I stuck a patch in the chamber to cut down the glare. Hopefully I'll get to try it out later this week.
