Title: Zastava CK M70
Post by: lowell66dart on June 09, 2021, 11:56:32 AM
From what little I could find this seems to be a CK M70. Buddy of mine picked it up at Cabela's last week for $399 used. Watched him shoot it and it's a light rifle so it pack a punch. Nice rifle. Wish they made it in 7.62x39. He's wondering about the age of it. If anyone can guess from my crappy pics he would appreciate any info.

Nice M70, hopefully Phos or somebody more into Mauser actions can help with age.

They do make a bolt in 7.62x39, it is the M85 Mini-Mauser

The Georgia, Vermont location (CAI moved from St Albans, VT to Georgia, VT in November of 2000), and the import stamp style (the CAI pin punch was incorporated in 2002) gives you a floor of when the earliest the gun could have been imported (2002).  I have no idea how many of these they have produced per year, but with that 137k S/N, it's probably relatively midway into the production of these guns & I'd guess ~2010 if it was imported new.

Interesting to note that CAI had to restamp the S/N to 137XXXV due to the fact that they already had a firearm on record as having that serial number.  See that quite a bit with the CAI six digit /26\ type 56s too.  thumb1
