Czech DUO 6.35 with Capture Papers
« on: December 03, 2017, 09:05:04 PM »
Well fellas, My first true blue capture papered bringback. I lucked out a month ago on the outskirts of my 40-50 mile "hunting in the Wild" LGS, pawn shop, flea market and back woods mom and pops 'everything and the kitchen sink stores".  I work non-stop so when I get to have a day sniffing out millsurps, it makes for an adventure.

90% of my collection is found"in the wild". Just makes for an interesting day not knowing what you may come home with.

No story with this 1 but the papers are original. Its a 1941 DUO with what I believe to be a period correct holster. If any 1 can tell me anything they may know about the grips I would love to hear. While not original, they appear to have some age. Clear plastic of some type with a thin sheet of copper behind giving it color. Not like any grips I've come across before. Anything like 'em seen from that time frame? or added after hitting stateside? I don't know but am open to ideas.

A good thread discussing occupation made DUO's can be found here http://sks-files.com/index.php?topic=3689.0

Now for some1 who doesn't speak much, I sure can get going when I'm excited about a new find. Any ideas on values welcome as well. With papers it adds an x-factor. I can add tear down pics when I finally get around to breaking it down. Enjoy  thumb1

Notice how it was wrote down as Italian  :)) I believe this sort of thing happened quite often.

Now it is a lil worse for wear but man, it's definitely scored a nice spot in the ole collection.

I know nothing about these, or most pistols at all... but that thing is pert dern neat!
It looks like you could fit it in your wallet.  I love that crescent moon trigger too.

Nice to see you scored on your mission.  thumb1

That is a really great find.

Especially cool that it has the Czech roll stamp and not the later German stamp.

Also: Itallian. I love it.

The grips? Maybe postwar aftermarket option offered by CZ when they assumed production of the Dusek Opcno under it's new model "Z" moniker. Or possibly a one-off, DIY?

Now that right there is just an excellent find hippie!  Would love to have something like that in my meager pistol collection!  thumb1

I may be mistaken, but I think the serial number on the frame may be a secondary stamping-- perhaps for import purposes.

The frame serial number stamps on the Dusek's and Model Z's that I've seen, have all been stamped on the inside wall of the mag well beneath the right side grip.
It's usually an impartial serial stamp-- just the last three digits of the serial number on the slide.

I wonder if the #12781 be related to possible purchase in Germany, or registration with the German army.

Glad yall like it fellas, I am stoked to have gotten lucky enough to stumble on a papered bring back that was actually in my price range ( Lets just say I got lucky there to  :P)

I got lucky on the holster as well as the papers. Some 1 cherished it for a long time till it found its way to me ( now I will till I pass it down to my lil 1's). The papers were/and are in a frame and appear to have been there a while.

Boris, I was thinking along the same lines on the numbers except on the slide number. ( I wonder if like the spelling of OPOCNO, something changed with the way the s/n were done/arranged.

Like you found under the grips ( I'll get mine took off soon to check) On the bottom of the slide, when you pull it back, is the last 3 digits of the s/n on the frame of mine.

I thought the slide was mismatched till I saw that. Got reading and seems the number before the Lion proof mark might be some sort of proof sequence number... or like you were thinking, some sort of german registration number.

PFCs don’t get Lugers!  :)
Nice paperwork, cool pistol, and a seriously neat package to find in the wild! Well done.  I’d value it around 450$.

We all should!

I vote for a summer road trip with LC driving as many as we can squeeze on a short bus...buying every SKS in sight....or at least scrutinizing them along the way and really freaking out gun shops....pawn shops...flea markets and yard sales along the way. We could make a movie. :)
