Made some progress
« on: July 16, 2017, 10:47:51 PM »
Who would of thought a tubing cutter would perfectly cut an Sks barrel!? About 10 minutes of oiling....twisting.....and poof! Almost a perfect concave finish. Touched it up with some crocus cloth. Now I need to reduce the diameter to thread it and the fsb. This is my next AK mag build.

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

Because of the direction the cutter head took......other than the last 1/16, it was shaped perfectly....i just deburred it with a button head screw in a drill.....stoned the chamfer and then polished it up......no kidding!

Remarkable. Did you know beforehand which side of the cutter would leave the crappy end, and if so, how can you tell?

Next time have the barrel rest in-between the two rollers opposite of the cutter.  Thats where the 'tube' is actually supposed to be when cutting.

Thats probably how he actually used it to do the cutting.  The barrel between the two rollers.  The pic looks like the barrel has already been cut and the cutter just remounted the way it is to keep it from falling off to the floor for the pic.  Cutter appears to be a Fuller brand.

Honestly.....I wasn't even thinking about it when I started. I think it was just dumb luck.
