Russian Makarov No Import Mark
« on: May 30, 2017, 08:28:00 PM »
Guy has a Russian Makarov 1975 with no import marks, some pitting on the slide, interior parts look good, bore looks good from the pics he sent me.  He wants $600 for it.  Good buy, yes or no?  I see ones on gb going for about the same or more starting bids but with import marks on them.

I tried to post up pics but something is just not working right tonight.  Please give me an honest opinion.  Thanks!

Does it have a fixed or adjustable rear sight? Any "non"-Cyrillic markings?
I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse......

Leave the gun, take the cannoli.

I said I was an addict........I didn't say I had a problem

Fixed rear sight.  Does not appear to be an IJ model.  Ser. # is MH 3016 with Izhevsk stamp.  I will try again to post up the pics.

Hard to make a firm recommendation without pictures but if it's really lacking import marks then it's a likely VN bringback. Import marks could be very small, so make sure you have high res pictures of both sides, etc. Regardless, $600-700 is about what an import marked Russian PM (in very good condition) goes for these days.

Still not able to post pics from my host service, maybe due to his pics coming from a host service and they are not playing well between the two.

Anyhow, after sleeping on it over night, I have decided to pass on it due to not being able to get better pics from the seller.  Just not willing to take a chance on something I am not totally sure of since a good bit of the pitting is in the area where maybe an import stamp may be or have been at one time.

Thanks for the help guys!   thumb1
