Item Link | Description |# Bids | Final Price | Arsenal Condition | Current Condition | RM's Notes
  • 654350966 | 1978 Albanian SKS in Cosmoline W/Box Matching | 6 | $1,201.00  | As-Issued | Good | Nice gun, but $1200?!  Wowzers!
  • 654728123 | Albanian SKS NICE! matching 7.62X39 C&R | 3 | $810.00  | As-Issued | Good | Another nice gun.  Cosmo gooey goodness.  Much more reasonably priced than the $1200 one this month...
  • 653080755 | Albanian SKS 7.62x39 EXTREMELY RARE RIFLE! | 2 | $605.00  | Refurbished | Good | Bummer about the mismatched TG and carrier.  Pricey.
  • 654657821 | Albanian SKS C&R OK NR | 1 | $500.00  | Bubba | Fair | "Not perfect by any means", yeah I'd say so!   I wonder if this is a parts gun?  Still, $500?  This market is insane.

The top two '78 Alby's were nice.  thumb1

The $1201.00 Alby would have been a challenge to the "Nun"  for first place, had it not been for a fair scattering of stock dings. If I had it, I'm not sure I'd degrease it. How do they put that cosmo on? Do they dip them into a hot vat of cosmoline? Or just brush it on and the ambient heat drips off the excess? And, what's up with the $1201.00? Wow!

The $810.00 Alby would have been my choice. It has a few more dings than the $1201.00 Alby, but sure not $400.00 worth! It still had a fair share of cosmo on it and all matching, as well. (As long as the  Gas Piston matched) Who the heck  at Gramsh picked out that brand of shellac? And more importantly, why did they stick with it? I don't know how long it was before the shellac started cracking and flaking. But I bet it was before the Alby series ended in '78.

The $605 '71? Alby went for what we would have paid 300-400 a year or so, ago. Non-matching Bolt Carrier, and I presume the Bolt, as well? (wasn't shown) And neither was the Receiver cover SN. Prices are getting crazy on these.

The $500.. Alby w/3 whole pics. Mixmaster. I wish I would have kept my '71 that had a split stock and a mismatched Bolt Carrier and Bolt. I could have quadrupled my money now.

I'm seeing more  '78's is the really nice condition, still in the cosmo. Has anyone seen a '68 in that well-preserved condition? That's my next goal. Ahhh.....hindsight.

I have spent hours and hours trying to find old footage of that from newsreels or something.  Found interesting other things, but never that.

The one I've listed in the Alby section is in Kali jail. I made and offer in May that was accepted, but the ducats didn't change hands until last Sunday, $485 for a matching '70, that's likely had the stock redone. Guess that'll be in July's data base. PAX

If it doesn't get sold via gunbroker, it flies under my radar I'm afraid.  Only so many hours in a week and I'm falling behind badly as it is!  Chinese commercial and Chinese military are next on the chopping block.  Way too many uninteresting black poly stocks to go through the effort to sort I'm thinking :(
