Ruger .44 Carbine
« on: September 14, 2014, 12:51:21 PM »
This here is my dad's Ruger .44 Carbine. Came with the scope attached when his dad bought it probably 20+ years ago. My dad uses it for hunting. The light is on there for when we go yote hunting at night.

Let me tell you, this thing is darn accurate. He uses Hornady .44 rounds and it amazes me every time.

Here she is!

This is the tube fed variant. I also hear there is a mag fed one.

The price on these seem to be going up at every gun show. Saw one priced at $700 recently. If you find one for less than $500 it's a steal

Worm that is a beauty, it's been very well taken care of! Years ago I hunted with a cousin in Louisiana that used one of these, he never lost a deer. It was always found in it's tracks when he squeezed the trigger!

Thanks guys. It's the same way when my dad shoots a deer with his, drops em' dead right away. I think I may shoot an offer to my uncle for his. They are a blast.

Worm how 'bout that light and mount? Do they come together or separately and is the mount adjustable? That looks like it's as handy as a pocket on a shirt.

We have chickens and ducks and problems with coyotes and fox.

The light mount was purchased at Walmart for $15 if I remember correctly.. And yes it is slightly adjustable. Just had to find a bright enough light to mount to it and we were good to go. It really is handy.

Well that's good to know. One of my sons-in-law has a small bright flashlight that he got at Walmart for about $15 also, looks like the same one mounted on your rifle.

Great little carbines those Ruger 44's. I only like a mag feed over those tube jobs so I wrenched mine over years ago to run Grizzly 44 handgun mags. Works slick..... & a manual hold open button toped it off. Ruger's bean counters keep gumming up the flow of these nice meat guns.

I have been looking to pick up a similar carbine.
The Marlin Camp .45 but they have become a little pricey these days.

Absolutely retarded move to kill those camp carbines. I just don't understand it. From what I remember, they sold out quickly during the few years of production but Ruger has had a history of anti 2nd when it comes to hi cap auto's. IMO I think it was a political move to ax the campers!

I love the Marlin Camp 9 and 45. Fun and accurate, and mags are everywhere for both. Both of mine have the heavy duty Wolff springs and upgraded recoil buffers.
