German Mauser bolt disassembly tool
« on: December 10, 2014, 01:10:56 AM »
I have a request to make of you German Mauser Gurus. A while back I read that the metal lined opening in the butt stock of a Mauser is a bolt disassembly tool, any of you have photos demonstrating how this works?

I have read/heard the same thing, but when I read the words "german mauser" and "tool" in the title of this thread, I thought it was going to be about Blicero.   :-X

The Mauser Tool! Oh boy do I need to request a screen name change from the admins.

Here ya go Danny. Once you unscrew the firing pin assembly from the bolt body, you stick the firing pin into the takedown disc. Push down on the safety to compress the firing pin spring, then take off the cocking piece.

Thanks Blicero, for years I wondered what that disc and hole in those butt stocks were for! That's a neat idea.

First thing you do is put the safety in the upright position as shown in Blicero's picture. Don't do that and the fun begins.

You get to cock the bolt by hand. Not extremely hard but you'll set the safety the next time you take the bolt apart. :-[

Total pain in the rear cocking it by hand or on table ledge. I'll never make that mistake again. Sheep is right. Don't do anything with the bolt out of the gun unless that safety is vertical.

Is that the gentle reminder that I owe, before you send Moose & Rocco to start breaking knuckles?  rofl
Make it $800 for the stock. And you get a barreled receiver for FREE!! Don't pass up this Christmas special!

No reminder there.  I actually want that stock, and I thought 65 bucks would be a good place to start. I'm willing to try anything to get a good stock for my baby;  anything that is except actually saving up and paying a fair price for one. ::)

A gentle reminder would sound more like, "Gimme my money ya bum." chuckles1

By the way, did you find the brass?  jd
